Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay is conducting Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design 2016 (UCEED 2016) under guidance of the UCEED Admissions Committee 2016.

Aspirants looking to secure admission in Bachelor of Degree programme (BDes) that is on offer at IIT Bombay need to appear for UCEED exam.

UCEED 2016 score is valid for admissions for the 2016-2017 academic session only.

Candidates are informed that appearing for UCEED exam or securing a spot in the UCEED 2016 rank list does not guarantee admission in BDes programmes offered at IIT Bombay. Candidates who have qualified UCEED need to separately apply for admission as per the procedure prescribed by the college. Admissions in BDes course will be made on the basis of merit in each category.

In 2015 the UCEED exam was held on May 31, 2015. However, UCEED 2016 is scheduled to be conducted on January 17, 2016. View important dates for UCEED 2016 here.

Last year, IIT Bombay and IIITDM Jabalpur offered admission to aspirants in their BDes programmes on the basis of their UCEED score.

Industrial Design Centre (IDC) at IIT Bombay, earlier used to offer only MDes and PhD programmes in design. However, from 2015 onwards IDC started offering a four year, eight semester BDes programme along with a five year, ten semester dual degree BDes + M Des course. The total number of seats on offer for both these programmes is 30.

One of the premier most fashion design colleges in India, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) was established in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. As per the official website, “NIFT has been granted statutory status under the act of Parliament of India in 2006, empowering the Institute to award degrees and other academic distinctions”.

Considered to be a pioneer in fashion education, NIFT has its headquarters in New Delhi. Apart from this city, NIFT has domestic centres at Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Patna, Shillong and Raebareli.

To get admission into Bachelor of Design (BDes), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFTech), Master of Design (MDes), Master of Fashion Management (MFM) and Master of Fashion Technology (MFTech) courses at NIFT, candidates need to appear for NIFT Entrance Test. 

The institute also gives candidates a chance to apply for two programmes in a given year which candidates can give as per their own convenience and need.

NID Entrance Exam

National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad offers admissions to aspirants in Bachelor of Design (BDes) as well as Master of Design (MDes) programmes on the basis of their performance in NID Design Aptitude Test.

After qualifying the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) conducted by NID, aspirants need to appear for a Studio Test and interview round, following which they are offered admissions in design programmes offered at NID’s main campus at Ahmedabad, PG campus at Gandhinagar as well as R&D campus at Bengaluru.

Total number of seats on offer in BDes programmes at NID is 100 whereas MDes seats for admissions are 275 in number. Know the seat matrix for NID Admissions 2016 here.

NID entrance exam is usually conducted in the month of January each year. NID Entrance Exam 2016 for BDes and MDes admissions will be held on January 10, 2016. View important dates for NID Entrance Exam 2016 here. 

CEED 2016

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay conducts Common Entrance Examination for Design 2016 (CEED 2016) to offer admissions to aspirants in Master of Design (MDes) and PhD programmes.

On the basis of a candidate’s score in CEED exam, he/she can secure admission in MDes course on offer at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IISc Bangalore, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur as well as IIT Hyderabad and PhD programme on offer at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Kanpur.

Aspirants who have qualified GATE will also be considered for admission in MDes programmes offered at IISc Bangalore and IIT Kanpur.

CEED 2016 exam will comprise of two parts – A and B. CEED exam is conducted with an objective of assessing an aspirant’s aptitude for design and so the exam pattern of CEED comprises of questions to test a candidate’s visual perception ability, creativity, drawing skills, logical reasoning, as well as communication skills.

Candidates need to note that their CEED 2016 scores will be valid for a year from the date of declaration of results.

The registration process for the exam commenced on August 10, 2015 and the exam date for CEED 2016 is December 6, 2015 and CEED exam date for candidates in Chennai is February 14, 2016. View important dates for CEED exam here.
